Alberta’s job market is so strong these days that it’s enticed an American staffing company to set up its first Canadian office in Calgary.
Peak Technical Consulting Canada, which specializes in recruiting and placing engineering and technical professionals, opened in June to focus on the oil and gas industry in the region.
Its corporate head office is located in Pittsburgh with offices primarily in the northeastern part of the United States and in California.
“We were actually brought here by our client and we saw the opportunity to expand that business and see what else they can bring to Calgary companies who were looking for the kind of people that they have,” said Keri Ryan, director of business development for the Calgary office. “In Calgary, we’re targeting the oil and gas piece . . . because that’s what driving things right now.
